Wow what Easter Sunday dinner treat...culinary globetrotter had the pleasure of being invited to dine at the Monument bistro gourmand in the small village of Lens Valais Switzerland , the occasion? Well the chef owner Birthday ... Do chefs party ??of course and they know how to do it right , combining great food with wine and good company ....no holding back .
Laurent the chef and his charming wife Marianne with there hard working team took great pleasure in entertaining us...
We started of with a great glass of Merlot red wine ... A true discovery
The Monument Bistro Gourmand has just been quoted in a highly rated food guide for its food and service and I'm sure with the quality of food we got to experience last night they will be climbing that ladder of culinary excellence very fast ...
Laurent cuisine is a discovery of flavors , he enjoys matching strong values from the west to new flavors of the east , and that is very challenging to not over do it , so you get to savor a Carpaccio of Foie gras with avocado and grilled eggplant with light citrus dressing ... A hit and true master piece
After enjoying a great cut of Local Beef in a very tasty sauce , a little more Merlot wine and a great conversation among friends , Laurent partner in the kitchen took out his pastry skills on us and hit the bulls eyes ....
So here match all this , citrus filled Brandy snaps ,mango raspberry sauce , sweet carrot sticks ,pistachio nuts ! A simple way to describe it " delicious " nothing more to say !
Great evening , great food &wine!
