Looking for a place to enjoy Game?? "Le Monument Bistro gourmand "in the cute little village of Lens not far from the popular ski resort of Crans-Montana ,the Chef Laurent Morard and his friendly wife Marie-Anne run the show and the reputation has travelled the area as a great dining venue .opened for a year now
For a beautiful rainy Sunday the terrace was not ideal for us , great exposure and view ! But rest assure the restaurant has plenty of seating space inside for all seasons , a comfortable bar with a very friendly manager taking care of orders and your Apero ! Tables are of great size and chairs comfortable , for smokers that is outside !
Of course the food!!!
You are given options of the lunch daily chef choice or the "A la Carte " selection five great starters, a vegetarian option is there , I recommend the "foie gras" 3 fish courses(you will see lobster yes lobster) and pasta course fit for the vegetarians , a great Veal chop with interesting siding choice and some tender cuts of beef filet which can be topped with "foie gras" , but the main catch on the menu at this time of year is its Game,3 featured dishes with real yummy matching side dishes ! Deer Saddle good for two is my highlight , you can also order that upon your reservation ( it always helps the chef)
We all opted for the chef daily special being a sunny day ! Yes beef tartare with a micro green tossed salad and home made fries,
The beef was very fresh ,tender properly seasoned and had some tasty pistachio nuts to add a twist , the fries were delicious ! Always a pleasure to eat fresh homemade fries , you get the option to have your tartare with a little extra kick (cayenne pepper)
Don't forget the coffee and many thanks to the chef for the grappa !
Great experience ! Bon Appetit
